I wanted to produce a series of works that would create a conversation about  words spoken to us as children. Words which we absorb into our psyche and, if heard often enough, we believe as if they were the truth.

These words can echo throughout our lives and hearing them said to us again in later years can reignite our belief in them.

I didn’t just want to focus on the negatives though, I wanted to point out that these words, these beliefs we carry are not the truth. They are relics from our past.

I decided to use a tub of coloured foam letters, black boards and mirrors as a starting point as these evoked memories of childhood for me and I hoped they would also do so for others.
