Welcome to my website.

I am currently researching the significance of relics, both religious and secular. Questioning what could be considered a relic, what role they might have within contemporary art and how I might incorporate them into my practice.
I am particularly fascinated by the power of relics and where that power comes from, whether we give the objects the power through our memories linked to them, or whether the objects already have a power of their own.

I am discovering that the term relic could be applied to various things, whether they are items we still have from childhood, the impact of words spoken to us, objects from long ago, a tradition we still hold on to or everyday items that we take for granted.

Within my practice I am creating a collection of relics belonging to a fictitious Victorian lady, Madam Katarina Michelle. I utilise a variety of materials in the construction of my work in order to best express my ideas.

My practice consists of many strands which when woven together create the entire picture.
These can appear somewhat eclectic, but often contain the embryos of future inspiration. The strands weave in and out of each other, sometimes merging, sometimes taking completely separate paths but still all part of my practice and reflect my joy in experimentation, learning new techniques and having fun whilst creating.
